Additional Information: | This 1-story Contemporary restaurant building was constructed in 1960 as the Friendship Café. It is rectangular in plan with buff-colored brick walls (and concrete block side walls) and a low-pitched gable roof. The front elevation faces east and is asymmetrical in plan with a recessed entrance at the south end of the façade. The metal-framed glass door that comprises the entrance is accentuated by a telescoping wood frame; low brick knee-walls further frame the entrance on each side. The remaining façade contains two large metal-framed shop windows just north of the entrance and a solid wall space clad in T1-11 siding comprising the remainder of the façade (original photos indicate that this space has never contained windows, but served to display the restaurant’s name, as it does today). A brick bulkhead wall runs the length of the façade north of the entrance. A flat-roofed awning spans the width of the façade. The building continues to function as the Friendship Café today. |
