Additional Information: | Surveyed 2021: Located on the east side of STH 42 is the Cape Cod Motel which generally faces west. The primary feature of the complex is the nine room, "L"-shaped, motel building itself. Its six room length is perpendicular to the highway while its remaining three rooms are in the el that is farthest away from, yet parallel to the road. The building is sheathed with clapboard-like siding and the sheltered walkway that accesses the rooms is supported by five sets of paired posts that angle away from the rooms as they rise. Also included on the property is a small ranch-type house with a gabled roof and stone siding. The house’s gabled peaks are sheathed with clapboard-like siding. Additionally is there a former garage that appears to have been repurposed. Known today as the Cape Cod motel, this resource was originally the LeRoy Motel built by Myles and Ceil LeRoy likely in the late 1950s. It was originally a four-unit operation, soon expanded to nine rooms. The LeRoys operated it into the late 1960s. Myles died in September 1969. The business was subsequently the DooLittle Motel and is today the Cape Cod Motel. |
