Additional Information: | This small, 1-story gas and service station was constructed in 1941 in a Contemporary style. It is square in plan with poured concrete walls and a flat roof. This freestanding building contains two primary facades (the north and east elevations) and a cutaway northeast corner containing the primary pedestrian entrance. This entrance consists of a single metal door containing a single-pane window. The north elevation (facing Commercial Street) contains a horizontal, single-pane, fixed-sash window and a single garage bay containing a modern overhead metal door. The east elevation contains a horizontal, single-pane, fixed-sash window; two vertical, single-pane fixed sash windows and a single, pedestrian-scale metal security door. A second doorway in the east elevation has been infilled with rusticated concrete block. A concrete island containing three gas pumps was historically located northeast of the building; this was removed in about 2012, and the space is currently paved in concrete. |
