Additional Information: | Built circa 1875, this raised basement dairy barn sits on a stone base, is clad in wood siding, and has a metal gable roof. It is built into the side of a gently sloped hill. There are several small rectangular window openings within the stone base. Most of these openings are missing their glazing or have broken glass. There are window openings in the upper section of the barn that have been covered with plywood. The largest window is beneath the gable peak. A small concrete block lean-to is located on the north elevation. The metal roof is in a state of deterioration. The barn is associated with a two-story brick vernacular late-nineteenth century dwelling with a cross gable roof clad in asphalt shingles. The dwelling has vinyl siding on the second story and all its windows have been replaced with modern vinyl versions or are covered with plywood. Also located on the property is a smoke house. |
