Additional Information: | Surveyed in July 2020 by UWM-CRM as part of Hwy 164 reconstruction project (WisDOT ID#2810-08-00). The oldest part of the school was constructed around 1880, with three later additions in the 1950s, the late 1960s, and the early 1990s. The west (Big Bend Rd.) elevation is clad in variegated brick and has groups of paired windows, a pair of entry doors, and groups of smaller windows. A corrugated metal cornice caps the elevation. The west elevation was constructed sometime between 1950 and 1963, leaving the gable end of the original nineteenth-century building visible behind the addition. The north (Denoon Rd.) elevation contains a second addition built sometime between 1963 and 1970. This elevation is clad in variegated brick and has large windows consisting of paired fixed lights with lower hopper windows. A corrugated metal cornice wraps around this elevation as well, and a double-height building mass (probably a multipurpose room or cafeteria) is clad in the same corrugated metal. A large textured concrete block addition is located on the west and south elevations; this third addition was constructed sometime between 1990 and 1995. |
