Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. SQUARE STEEPLE OVER ENTRY. SLIGHTLY POINTED ARCH WINDOWS. STONE FOUNDATION. November 1999-This one story red brick church and accompanying cemetery is the Reformierte Kirche, or the German Reformed Church, known locally as the Tell church. The name plate in the gable peak of the front façade dates the building to 1880. Though primarily vernacular in form, it has lancet windows of clear glass, a center squared tower on the front, and a square bell tower, with gabled peaks over each window for the belfry. The bell tower is capped with a four sided spire. The foundation is stone. The church appears to be virtually unchanged from its original construction except a prominent wooden deck and stairs which have been built on the front of the building. The cemetery surrounds the church building on the east, south and west sides, and is enclosed with a wire fence. The oldest part of the cemetery is located on the western side of the church. Large mature pine trees are located in front of the church. Natural woods surround the cemetery outside the fence. |
