| Additional Information: | The Bram Street Bridge was constructed in 1880 by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad to carry the railroad tracks over Bram Street. The bridge consists of a single spandrel arch of coursed stone block construction featuring an alternating pattern of contrasting stone ringstones. A modern plaque on the east face of the bridge notes that the bridge was built by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as a replacement for an earlier timber trestle bridge and that the stone blocks are of quartzite from a quarry in Sauk County. The plaque further notes that the bridge is “notable for the quality of [its] masonry and engineering.” stone arch bridge |
