Additional Information: | 2020: This farmstead consists of a two-story farmhouse, main barn, secondary barn, milkhouse, corn crib, two small rectangular outbuildings, four grain bins, and three silos. The farmhouse (AHI No. 241053) was built c.1880 in the vernacular gabled ell form. It has a “T” plan with intersecting gable roof covered in asphalt shingles with an interior brick chimney. The house is clad in a mixture of original horizontal wood and replacement vinyl siding. Windows include a mixture of wood, three-over-one, double-hung sash with wood surrounds and vinyl, one-over-one, light sash. The front (west) facade has a small gable portico over the wood entry door with wood pilasters flanking both sides of the entry. The original front entry was modified as a portico was added and the front steps removed. A c.1950 addition with vinyl siding and a gable roof extends from the south side of the rear elevation. A c.1940 dairy barn (AHI No. 241054) with vertical wood board siding and a rounded Gothic Arch roof covered in asphalt shingles is located southeast of the farmhouse. A c.1940 milkhouse with horizontal wood siding and a shed roof extends from the west elevation of the dairy barn. A c.1880 rectangular barn (AHI No. 241055) with horizontal wood siding and a side-gable roof with asphalt shingles is located north of the dairy barn; an addition with a shed roof extends from its north and east elevations. To the south of the c.1910 barn is a collapsed c.1950 outbuilding with vertical wood board siding and a gable roof. Three silos are located west of the dairy barn. A c.1955, rectangular, wood-frame corncrib with open wood slat siding and a front-gable roof with asphalt shingles stands west of the silos. A modern circular wire corncrib is located to its west. Four grain bins stand to the west and south of the corncribs. North of the two corncribs is a c.1950 rectangular outbuilding with asphalt shingle siding and a side-gable roof, and north of that is a c.1970, small, rectangular outbuilding with horizontal wood siding and a gable roof. |
