NOTES
Additional Information:2020: This c.1900, one-story schoolhouse has a poured-concrete foundation and replacement asbestos siding. The front-gable roof is covered in asphalt shingles and features wood soffits. Along the roofline a vent hood is located toward the front (west) facade and brick chimney toward the rear (east) elevation. Evenly spaced window openings covered with wood shutters that have wood-frame surrounds are located on both side (north and south) elevations. The windows are not visible. A wood-paneled double door flanked by windows with wood frame and cornice is located on the facade. The original front entry stoop has been removed. A c.1970 pole building with metal siding, corrugated metal front-gable roof, and two overhead bay doors is located northeast of the schoolhouse.

Due to its size and massing, this property appears to be a c.1900, one-room, front-gable schoolhouse of the type that was typical in Polk County throughout the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. By the 1907-1908 school year there were more than 100 such structures countywide. Plat maps and historic aerials, however, show that the schoolhouse was not in its present location until approximately 1945. It therefore seems likely that this schoolhouse was moved to its present location c.1945.
