Chancellor L. Jr. and Janet Jenks' permanent residence was in Evanston, Illinois. This was a summer cottage for them and their family.
The property, which also includes a garage (#240943) and boathouse (#240944) was owned by the Jenks' until 1912, when it was sold to Don and Sophia Blanchard. The Blanchards retained the property until 1919, when they sold it to Lawrence and Olga Johnson. The cottage's name is understood to have been changed from "Woodbank" to "Keystone" by the Johnsons.
