| Additional Information: | The Jacobus Park Service Building was constructed by the WPA in 1937 in a Rustic style. It is rectangular in plan with limestone veneer and vinyl siding and an asphalt-shingled gable roof. The building is constructed into a natural rise so that the south side of the building rises 1 story in height while the north side (facing a small lagoon) rises 2 stories. The south side is entirely clad in vinyl while the north side is more rustic in appearance with limestone veneer siding. A concrete ADA ramp with metal railings has been constructed parallel to the south façade and provides access to a projecting, flat-roofed entry bay. The entry bay contains a metal door and a 6-over-6 window; a massive exterior chimney is located just east of the entry bay and is clad in limestone. The east and west ends of the building feature small eave returns. The 2-story north elevation is dominated by a shed-roofed projecting bay, the upper story of which appears to be a newer addition as it contains new windows, vinyl siding, and a newer pattern of asphalt shingling than the remainder of the building. The first story of the north bay contains three pairs of carriage doors providing access to a concrete landing overlooking the lagoon. |
