NOTES
Additional Information:THE GREEK REVIVAL HOUSE WAS DISCOVERED IN THE ALLEY OF A HOUSE ON 8TH AND PINE STREETS, A COUPLE OF BLOCKS FROM ITS CURRENT LOCATION. iT WAS BEING USED AS A GARAGE, AND IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN MOVED FROM THE FRONT OF THE LOT TO THE BACK IN THE 1920S, WHEN A NEWER HOUSE WAS BUILT ON THE LOT. WHEN WESTERN TECHNICAL COLLEGE WAS PREPARING TO DEMOLISH IT WITH OTHER PROPERTIES ON THE BLOCK TO MAKE WAY FOR THE NEW LIBRARY BUILDING IN THE LATE 1990S, IT WAS DONATED TO PRESERVATION ALLIANCE OF LA CROSSE, WHO MOVED THE BUILDING TO DONATED LAND NEXT TO THE HIXON HOUSE. PAL BUILT A FOUNDATION AND PAINTED THE BUILDING AND ROOF. IT MAY BE THE EARLIEST EXTANT EXAMPLE OF VERNACULAR WORKING-CLASS RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE REMAINING IN LA CROSSE.
