Determination of Eligibility completed for this property in 2018 (Heritage Research, Ltd.)

Groundbreaking for the school occurred on Sunday, 10 January 1960 with ceremonies featuring comments by church pastor, Rev. Jonathan Mahnke and songs by the children. This school replaced the congregation’s school building located at W. Hampton Avenue and N. 57th Street (no longer extant). Estimated to cost $225,000, the school had a planned capacity for 240 pupils containing six classrooms and a parish hall that could also serve as a gymnasium. Similar to the church, the school was designed by the firm of Steffen & Kemp.
