NOTES
Additional Information:Brothers William and Michael Neufeld constructed this four-unit apartment in 1960. Born in Poland in the early 1920s, the Jewish brothers survived the Holocaust and immigrated to Milwaukee in the late 1940s where William took up house painting and Michael worked as a carpenter. The pair in the 1950s started building single-family homes in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa. Eventually, they founded Neufeld Bros. Builders and constructed nearly thirty duplexes and apartment buildings scattered throughout Milwaukee’s Northwest Side. The company in the 1970s evolved into conducting apartment management and split the business into William Neufeld & Son and M&R Neufeld. Both brothers died in 1999. With regard to the apartment, city directories in the 1960s indicate a regular turnover of tenants
