NOTES
Additional Information:Denny’s Auto Center is an automobile repair shop on the northeast corner of W. Milwaukee Street and Academy Street. Constructed c.1950, the one-story building has stucco cladding and a flat roof. The building has a rectangular massing at the rear and an angular ell on the front portion that holds the office. The Auto Center shares the northeast wall with the neighboring building. The office ell has been altered, and replacement square casement windows with a multi-light transom are on either side of the doorway. The word “TRANSMISSIONS” has been painted on the wall above the doorway and windows. The southeast elevation facing W. Milwaukee Street has two overhead doors, and the words Denny’s Auto Center has been painted above them. The side elevation facing N. Academy Street has five additional bays, which consist of one garage door bay, a wooden door, and three six-over-nine, double-hung windows. The front of the service garage (northwest) consists of three six-over-nine, double-hung windows. The original c.1950 sign appears in front of the shop next to the intersection in the paved parking lot, which contains no gas pumps that may have been original to the building.
