Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. This 2½ story Queen Anne building was constructed in 1891 as part of a block of 3 shops. It is rectangular in plan with clapboard walls and an asphalt-shingled gable roof. Primary facades face south and east as the building is located on a corner lot. The southeast corner contains a recessed doorway with a 2-sided transom above. Fixed-sash windows are located on either side. A projecting strip of molding above this corner bay, and extending along a portion of the east façade, suggests that this area originally contained large shop windows. The remainder of the east façade contains a metal security door at the first floor and five 1-over-1 windows at the second floor. A single 1-over-1 window is located at the attic level below the gable. The south elevation contains a number of 1-over-1 windows at the second story, including those located within a 3-sided bay window. The first story of the south elevation contains a small bank of shop windows and a recessed doorway at its northern (back) end. |
