NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2016- "This three-story, U-shaped, combined commercial and residential (apartment) building is sheathed with brick and trimmed extensively with stone along three of its four elevations. Neo-Gothic Revival in style, the building occupies the full width of the block between N. Teutonia Avenue and N. 22nd Street and includes six total storefronts on the first floor; all display windows have been replaced with modern glass. A heavily detailed, Gothic-arched doorway along N. Teutonia Avenue, as well as a more ornate entrance along N. 22nd Street provide access to the upper two floors. Neo-Gothic Revival style motifs executed in carved stone include Gothic arching and tracery, heraldic shields, as well as quatrefoil and foliated patterns.

Designed by the firm of Martin Tullgren and Sons and consisting of retail on the first floor and apartments on the upper two levels, this structure was erected by The Capitol & Teutonia Company in 1930 as the Rosemont Apartment Building. The real estate firm was headed by Roland E. Stoelting, who had previously served as the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works for the City of Milwaukee. The structure was originally built to accommodate seven stores and a total of twenty-six apartments. Today, the first floor continues to accommodate retail businesses, while the upper floors were remodeled for use by senior citizens."
