NOTES
Additional Information:2016- "Sheathed with red face brick along both the N. Teutonia Avenue and W. Nash Street elevations, this two-story, brick commercial building is topped with a flat roof. A pent roof extends from the building’s face and is supported by decorative wooden brackets and exposed rafter tails. The first floor of the N. Teutonia Avenue elevation includes a doorway (with transom) that leads to the second floor apartments, while the remainder of the first floor is comprised of a replacement storefront window (the transom level of which is boarded over) alongside a canted corner entrance. The metal awning mechanism remains intact; however, the cloth awning itself is no longer there. The upper level includes a central, quadruple window arrangement of six-over-one-light sash which is underscored by a continuous masonry sill. A small six-light fixed window flanks each side of the central arrangement. A line of soldier brick runs above the first floor, while a line of header brick defines the second level along N. Teutonia Avenue and continues along W. Nash Street. Two additional entrances are located along W. Nash, while windows along both the first and second floors are comprised of singly, paired and tripartite groupings of double-hung, multiple-light sash.

Designed by the firm of Leiser & Holst and completed in 1923, this store and flat building was built for pharmacist Gustav Bauer at an approximate cost of $10,000. The other storefront was occupied by a physician; first Louis Kretshmar (1930) and later, Alphonse Hertel (1932). In 1930, an additional story was added to an original one-story wing off the rear of the building. The Bauer family owned the property through at least 1959; however, the drug store name changed a variety of times (including Pitts Pharmacy, Fox Pharmacy and Voight Drug Store). Serving as a drug store through at least 1970, the building, today, appears to be vacant."
