Additional Information: | 2016- "Rising two stories and exhibiting slight Mediterranean Revival styling, this six-unit apartment building is largely faced with brick that has been painted white, while the N. 17th Street entrance elevation is comprised of orange-tone face brick. The entrance itself projects from the face of the building and is accented with stone, scrollwork trim and includes a round-arched doorway to the vestibule. The north portion of the entrance elevation presents itself as a tower-like element, while the south two thirds is finished with a pent roofline with red shingles. Windows throughout the building are largely regularly arranged in pairs and tripartite groupings, with many still retaining their original six-over-six-light sash. All first-floor openings are boarded over; however, they appear to be intact behind the board. Begun in 1928, this apartment building was designed by architect Alfred Siewert and was built by Mike Shapiro, Inc. (real estate) for an approximate cost of $20,000. Permits identify the structure as complete as of January 1929 and all six apartments were occupied as of the 1929 city directory. The apartment building now stands vacant and is owned by the City of Milwaukee." -"N Teutonia Ave: W Groeling Ave to W Capitol Dr", WisDOT#2080-00-02, Prepared by Heritage Research, Inc.
