Additional Information: | 2017- "The Lieberman Farm consists of a house, barn, granary, chicken coop, corn crib, privy, and windmill. The c.1900 house (AHI No. 233409) is a two-story cube with a stone foundation and walls clad in clapboard. Two central brick chimneys project above the asphalt shingle hip roof, and small cross gables are centered on the front (south) facade and west (side) elevation. A hip-roof porch with turned posts wraps around the southeast corner and shelters entrances on both the front facade and east (side) elevation. A small hip-roof bay window projects from the front facade on the west side of the main entrance, and a central second-story door provides access to the porch roof. Window openings contain one-over-one, double-hung, wood sash. A c.1930 gothic-arch basement barn (AHI No. 233411) is located east of the house and has a raised concrete-block foundation, walls clad in corrugated metal, and a corrugated metal roof. Doors to the hay loft and basement are located at both ends of the barn, and small square windows light the basement level. A c.1900 side-gable granary (AHI No. 233413) located between the barn and house rests on stone piers and has vertical board siding and a metal roof, and a metal windmill is located on the hillside behind the granary. A c.1900 side-gable chicken coop (AHI No. 233414) west of the granary has a rubble stone foundation, drop siding, and an asphalt-shingled roof. A gable-roof privy, small shed, and a corn crib with open wood slat walls (AHI No. 233415) are located at the rear (north) of the house. A c.1970 pole building is located north of the barn and the stone foundation of a demolished building is located south of the granary. A group of c.2015 Harvestore silos are located several hundred feet to the east of the farmstead complex. A 1914 plat map shows William Lieberman as the owner of the 240-acre farm at this location. Lieberman was born in 1875 near Gilmanton and purchased the subject farm in the town of Mondovi in 1907. A 1939 aerial image indicates that the primary farm buildings and most ancillary buildings from that time are still extant." -"STH 88: CTH U to STH 37", WisDOT#7730-02-30, Prepared by Mead & Hunt, Inc., (2017). |
