Additional Information: | The Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex was established in 1962 to replace the older Milwaukee County Asylum on the county grounds in Wauwatosa. A 130,000-square foot sprawling complex was constructed in 1968 with offices and care facilities as a day hospital, treating patients on site and then sending them home overnight. A large subsequent addition, the main building of the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex located at 9455 West Watertown Plank Road, was constructed adjacent to the west in 1973 and further expanded in 1978. The complex, which has had a fraught history, was renamed the Charles W. Landis Mental Health Center and Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Complex. 2022: Property was demolished in July. |
