Additional Information: | 2016- "This Contemporary post office building, completed in 1976, has a rectangular plan that spans N. Fourth and Sixth Streets between State and Vine Streets. The building is set back from the road by a parking lot that is surrounded by landscaping with brick retaining walls, planters, and benches. The building is clad in brick veneer and has a flat roof with metal coping. The building exterior is separated into three large, rectangular masses with a fenced loading dock on the northeast corner. The front (south) facade and side (east) elevation feature a recessed entrance with simple engaged columns on the first story. The side (west) and rear (north) elevations are devoid of architectural details. Windows are predominately fixed metal. This building replaced the c.1905 courthouse and post office, which was on the same site." -"N 6th St: State St to Badger St", WisDOT#5991-05-27, Prepared by Mead & Hunt, Inc., (2016). 2017 UPDATE - THIS BUILDING LOOKS SUBSTANTIALLY LIKE IT DID WHEN LAST SURVEYED IN 2016 |
