Elizabeth Brown Saxton family to Russell and Barbara M. Davidson, Warranty Deed, 21 February 1941, 190/435, #408633. Russell and Barbara M. Davidson to Maurice and Emma Enge, Warranty Deed, 15 September 1941, 193/308, #416468. 1934 date of construction from assessor's records. Biographical information on the Enge family included in Dolbier, From Sawmills to Sunfish (1985), 291. includes photo of house. It does not indicate that they built the house. Per biographical information provided on Ancestry.com, Elizabeth Brown Collins (a widow) wed Lawrence Saxton (a widow) in 1931; he was a carpenter. As of 1941, the Saxtons are confirmed as living at 311 S. 4th Avenue; as of the 1940 census, they are simply listed at S. 4th Avenue. It is possible that Saxton (a carpenter) built the house in the mid-1930s; however, no one is confirmed as residing in the home until the Enges. "Buys Interest in Car Firm," (re: Maurice Enge), The La Crosse Tribune, 19 March 1953, 13/4.
