Additional Information: | 2019 - A c.1920 dairy barn stands south of the house. The main portion of the barn has a rectangular plan with its long axis running north-south. It rests on a stone foundation that has been covered in concrete and features timber framing and vertical wood siding. Its gambrel roof has asphalt shingles that cover original wood shingles in addition to two ventilators that pierce the roofline. The north elevation features a replacement metal entrance and hinged particle board door; hayloft opening; and fixed, six-pane, wood window in the gable end. It also has an attached c.1955 hip-roof milk house with a metal roof and “Morning Glory Farms” sign mounted on its north elevation. Additional one-story barn additions are located on the east elevation (c.1970, wood clad, sliding two-pane windows, metal roof) and south elevation (c.1965, concrete-block construction with wood siding in gable ends, six-over-six double-hung windows, metal roof). A sliding door opening stretches across the west elevation. With its long rectangular orientation, two-story height, and gambrel roof with ventilators, this structure displays typical qualities of the Wisconsin Dairy Barn that was ubiquitous in the first half of the twentieth century across the state. A large portion of the barn was destroyed in a 1928 tornado; it was rebuilt c.1930. This farmstead includes 12 resources including a house (AHI No. 230718), garage (AHI No. 230723), dairy barn (AHI No. 230719), three concrete stave silos (AHI Nos. 240712, 240713, 240714), smokehouse (AHI No. 230724), hog house (AHI No. 230720), chicken coop (AHI No. 230721), machine shed (AHI No. 230722), pole building (AHI No. 240715), and corn crib (AHI No. 240716). 2015- "This farmstead contains eight resources including a house (AHI#230718), dairy barn (230719), hog house (230720), poultry house (230721), machine shed (230722), garage (230723), shed (230724), and a recently constructed pole barn. The dairy barn was constructed c.1920. It is rectangular in plan with a concrete foundation, vertical board siding, and an asphalt-shingled gambrel roof that is punctuated by two metal ventilators; a small, hipped roof milk house projects from the north elevation and a concrete silo with a domed metal roof is located off of the northeast corner." - "CTH M Cross Coutry Road to Prairie Hill Road", WisDOT ID #5992-09-81, Prepared by UWM-CRM management staff (2015). This building is part of a farmstead. Related records: #230718, #230720, #230721, #230722, #230723, #230724 |
