Additional Information: | 2015- "This two-story commercial building is covered with brick and finished with a shaped parapet with stone coping. The building’s entrance is located at the corner and recessed behind a large brick pier support; window openings in that space are infilled with glass block. The first floor includes large openings with replacement windows; one along the building’s north elevation and four along the east. Incised, decorative stone ornament is located above the first floor at most corners of those windows. The second level is comprised of paired and tripartite groupings of double-hung sash that are generally set within a brickwork surround and rest upon a continuous stone sill. Stone ornament again accents each corner of the window openings, except for the south end of the east elevation, which was added in 1949. Designed by John Topzant, the original two-story block was built in 1924 at an estimated cost of $30,000 for John F. Schmidt. The first floor included a bowling alley and tavern, while the second floor included two flats. Schmidt remained the proprietor of the business through at least 1938; at the same time, one portion of the first level was occupied by the Wisconsin Co-op Brewery, Inc. The second-floor addition at the south end of the building was completed in 1949 by owner John Barczak and the facility was known as “Du Bowl.” Current signage indicates that the structure functions as Club 30 Lounge." -"N Teutonia Ave, W Garfield Ave-W Groeling Ave ", WisDOT #2080-00-03, Prepared by Heritage Research, Ltd.
