Additional Information: | The Eschenbacker Bakery was founded by Albert Eschenbacker in 1873. His son, Hugo P (b. 1884) took over the business and built the subject building sometime prior to 1926. He and his wife, Ida, lived in the quarters above. Hugo died after a long illness in 1933 and Ida ran the bakery into the late 1930s. As early as 1944, the building housed a William Heinemann Bakery outlet, which remained until the early 1960s. In 1965, Hydro-Flor heating occupied the building; it is currently home to a plumbing business. 2015- "This two-story, Period Revival-style, brick commercial building features a side-gabled front roof with endwall parapets; the eave is underscored with flat brackets. The recessed main entrance features classical molding and is oriented towards the northeast corner. Modern plate-glass windows occupy the storefront and its transom. The upper level carries a single, a paired and a tripartite grouping of replacement double-hung sashes. The side facades are utilitarian.
