Additional Information: | 2016- "The one-story, Stanfold Town Hall was built in 1879. The front gable building is sheathed in vinyl siding, rests on a concrete block foundation that postdates construction, and has a standing seam metal roof. The front (west) facade has a central door and no windows. Both the side (north and south) elevations have three, one-over-one, double-hung windows. The rear (east) elevation has an off-center entrance accessed by an American with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp. Signs reading “Town of Stanfold” are located in the gable ends on the front and rear of the building. The interior space was not accessible at the time of the survey; however, the space was visible through the windows and it appears to remain intact. A modern pole barn is also located on the property To the east of the building is a wooden sign that states “STANFOLD TOWN HALL HISTORIC SITE 1879.“ It is unclear if the subject building is the original town hall constructed in 1879 or a subsequent building at this location. Attempts to contact local officials regarding the construction date were unanswered." - "STH 25 to West Avenue", WisDOT ID #8102-07-03, Prepared by Mead & Hunt, Inc. (2015). |
