| Additional Information: | 2015- "This farmstead, located in the town of Lowville, consists of a house, garage, barns, pump house, silo, and a pole building. The c.1910, one-and-one-half-story, vernacular bungalow (AHI No. 230509) rests on a masonry foundation and has vinyl siding. It has a steeply pitched side gable roof with a large, front gable dormer. The dormer has a simple vergeboard and three one-over-one, double-hung, replacement windows. The front (west) facade has paired, one-over-one, double-hung, replacement windows arranged asymmetrically. Above each pair of windows is a simple carved frieze with dentils. The side (south) elevation has a grouping of three windows, as well as a projecting bay with three windows. Windows in these groupings are one-over-one, double-hung replacements. At the southeast corner is a one-story, historically enclosed porch with a hip roof. Windows on the porch are three-over-one, double-hung, wood.
Behind (to the east) of the house is a c.1910 concrete block garage (AHI No. 230510). To the east of the garage is a modern pole building. To the east of the modern pole building is a c.1910, one-story, concrete block, small animal barn (AHI No. 230512). To the southwest of the animal barn is a c.1910 concrete block pump house with a side gable roof, and a mix of fixed pane and glass block windows (AHI No. 230511). To the south of the pump house is a large c.1880 barn (AHI No. 230513). It sits on a stone foundation, is of frame construction, and is clad in vertical wood planks with a gable roof. A concrete silo and wind mill are also located on the property.
According to historic plat maps, this parcel appears to have belonged to the original founder of Lowville, Jacob Low. After he died in 1875, his widow Catherine Low inherited the property (1). It is unclear who bought the property after both died; however, none of the extant buildings on the property date to their period of ownership."
