Additional Information: | This 1970 Marathon gas station is constructed of concrete block and is topped with a front-gabled roof with wide overhanging eaves that extends towards S. Oneida Street to form the long canopy over two sets of gas pumps. The east wall of the structure is entirely made up of glass panels, less the concrete block ends. The rear (west) of the structure includes an overhead garage door that is oriented to Calumet Street. The gas station--constructed of concrete block and with a glass front wall--is typical of circa 1970-era gas stations erected by the Marathon gas company. While offering a good degree of integrity, numerous stations of this type continue to exist throughout the Wisconsin landscape. Furthermore, the station has not yet reached 50 years of age and does not display exceptional significance that might otherwise meet Criterion Consideration G. A DOE is not required. |
