| Additional Information: | This 2-story Colonial Revival house was constructed c.1920. It is rectangular in plan with red brick walls and an asphalt-shingled side-gabled roof. The front elevation faces north and is symmetrical in plan with a central front door and an 8- over-12 window on each side. The front door has a Classically-inspired surround consisting of fluted pilasters on each side and a broken pediment above. The second story contains three regularly-spaced 8-over-8 windows. All windows in the facade have decorative wood shutters. Wide chimneys are located on the east and west elevations and protrude through each gable end. A screened porch is located on the east side of the building; its flat roof serves as a walk-out balcony at the second story. The building is in good condition and retains a relatively high degree of integrity. As a representative of the Colonial Revival style, the house's primary distinguishing features are its symmetrical fagade, accentuated front door, and multi-pane windows. However, it does not possess an especially high degree of architectural interest or distinction within the surrounding architectural context of Colonial Revival houses in Marinette (WHPD records 39 others in the city). For this reason, the building is not considered eligible for listing under Criterion C. This building has not been previously surveyed. A new AHI record was created. |
