NOTES
Additional Information:2015- "This brick Foursquare home is topped with a hipped roof and displays an open, favade-length porch with a balcony roof on the main (south) facade. Brick forms the porch's railing wall and corner piers while a square, wooden column supports the middle of the porch roof, which is topped by a wooden, square-post balustrade. A square bay appears on the east facade and small, gabled dormers are located on the roof. Fenestration generally consists of three-over-one, double-hung sashes arranged in pairs and tripartite groupings.

A building permit states that this house was built in 1923 by William Lauber; however, city directories in the 1920s do not place any Lauber at this address. They do place Philip J. and Ida Lauber in this house as early as 1932. William Lauber along with his son Philip and John Braun, organized the Lauber Handle Manufacturing Company 1922 by Lauber, his father, William, and John Braun. The elder Lauber was the president of firm, which made handles for brooms, brushes, handtools and utensils. The junior Lauber’s stint with the company ended in the mid 1930s since a 1936 directory cites that he was no longer an officer with the company and worked as a laborer with the City of Milwaukee; he also no longer living in the subject home. Turnover afterward was frequent, which when combined with the fact that the Laubers had returned to the subject house by 1950 suggests that they had rented it out for a period of time."
