Additional Information: | This Minimal Traditional house was built in 1933, with major additions in 1970. It is irregular in plan with red brick walls and a red asphalt-shingled roof. The 1933 building mass features a large front facing gable on its front elevation, which faces west. The front facing gable contains three 6-over-6 double hung windows flanked by shutters, with a round gable window in the peak. A clapboard-covered wing extends north off of the gable end and contains the front door as well as a string of three 4-over-4 double-hung windows. An unattached, square garage (c. 1940) is located south of the house, with two overhead doors and a cupola at the peak of the pyramidal roof. The 1970 additions include another brick wing extending north from the gable end of the 1933 structure. It has elements of midcentury Ranch style, with a long low profile and a massive chimney. The windows of this addition are horizontal single-paned sliding windows. A brick privacy wall has also been built from the south of the 1933 structure, creating a partially enclosed breezeway between the garage and the house. The building is in good condition and retains a fairly high degree of integrity, particularly on the 1933 original structure. The windows on this portion of the house appear to be original, and it also appears that the brick, which was carried throughout the 1970 additions, has been well maintained. |
