Additional Information: | This bridge has no plate that substantiates either its date of construction or its manufacturer. It is possible that the bridge was moved to the site, given that its end beams, and the stringers that extend therefrom, are encased in concrete. Thus does the bridge have a rigid mount that does not accommodate expansion or contraction. The bridge's date of construction is taken from a WisDOT inspection report. The Bible Camp Road Bridge is a single span Warren Standard Pony Truss oriented on a northwest/southeast axis. The structure was constructed in circa 1920 and is 41 feet long. Its overall width is 18' feet 2" while that of its traffic deck is 15'. Its inclined endposts and top chord, which is 55" inches above the deck, are 12" by 6 1/2" and comprised of channels and plates. Diagonals are 2 1/2" x 3" and of paired angles. Intermediate verticals are also paired angles, 2 1/2" by 2 1/2". The lower chords are of paired angles, back -to-back. Deck beams are 18" x 6" rolled "I" beams. Outer deck stringers are rolled 9" channels. Intermediate stringers are 9" x 4" rolled "I" beams on 2' 8" centers. The bottom lateral bracing is comprised of 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" angles. The bridge is rigidly fixed to its concrete abutments. The bridge is located on a local road and accommodated the passage of nearby residents and farming-related materials over Sugar Creek. In a township with a variety of watercourses, no data unique to the subject structure's history was noted. |
