Additional Information: | This 1 1/2 story Bungalow house was constructed c. 1922. It is rectangular in plan with brick walls and an asphalt-shingled side gable roof with clipped gables. The front elevation faces south and is symmetrical in plan with a central front cood flanked by banks of 3-over-1 windows. Brick piers at the front corners and a brick half-wall below the front window banks suggest that this area was originally a recessed front porch. A short set of concrete steps provides access to the door. A hipped-roof dormer projects from the center of the front roof slope; this contains a bank of three 3-over-1 windows. The building is in good condition and retains a moderate degree of integrity (if the front porch has been enclosed, it was likely done within the historic period). The house is a fairly unremarkable representative of Bungalow architecture and is not especially unique within the surrounding architectural context (69 other Bungalow houses have been recorded in WHPD in the City of Racine and several others that have not been recorded are identifiable within the surrounding neighborhood). This building has not been previously surveyed. A new AHI record was created. |
