Additional Information: | The Hilltop Motel was constructed c.1960. The property consists of a 15-unit motel with an attached office and c.1980 single-family residence. A small green space with picnic tables and coniferous and deciduous trees separates the buildings and parking lot from the roadway. A c.1960 polygonal neon sign in an ashlar stone planter is located near the north entrance to the parking lot. The motel consists of two single-story rectangular buildings situated in an L-shaped plan. Both buildings are of frame construction, sheathed in replacement siding with side gable roofs. The roofs are covered with asphalt shingles and feature projecting eaves and cantilevered gable ends. Windows are a combination of replacement sliding and one-overone, double-hung sash. Modern entrance doors replaced the original doors along the front (east and south) facades of both buildings. A c.1980 one-story side gable house is attached to the office at the side (north) elevation of the motel. It is sheathed in vinyl siding, and has a central door flanked by two sets of single-pane casement windows. The property also includes a c.2000 pole building at the rear (west) of the property. The Hilltop Motel is a vernacular building that does not embody distinct characteristics of a particular type or style of architecture, display high artistic value, or represent the work of a master. |
