Additional Information: | The walls of this building are constructed of concrete and brick. The front elevation faces east onto N. Richards St. Meinecke Toy Manufacturing Company had its origins with Adolf Meinecke who established a toy store on Market Square in downtown Milwaukee in 1855; in 1864 he began toy manufacturing and wholesaling. The two-story factory building at 3707 N. Richards St. was constructed circa 1910. Other buildings associated with the Meinecke Co. were demolished in the 1960s including a toy warehouse, blacksmith shop, iron assembly building, and garage. The Meinecke Co. went out of business around 1929 after which the complex was purchased and renovated for the Kerner Incinerator Company. |
