NOTES
Additional Information:2026: Resurrection Catholic Church and School was constructed in 1965 in a Contemporary style following a design by the firm of Berners, Schober, and Kilp. As originally designed, the property consisted of separate church and school buildings; however, these were joined by a series of additions between 1992 and 2015. The church building mass at the southwest end of the complex is irregular in plan and features red brick walls and an irregular roof form. The south wall of the church is dominated by a full-height dalle-de-verre window at the center of a slightly projecting bay. A tall, narrow spire rises from the roof peak above this. Wings on each side of the center bay contain vertical pebble-dash strips with windows at the first and second stories. These windows are comprised of single-pane, fixed sashes over smaller single-pane awning sashes. A large, irregularly-shaped addition was constructed along the church’s east elevation between 1992 and 2005 and obscures the building’s original east elevation; this addition is of red brick construction and features a flat roof and an entry bay containing two pairs of glass double doors surrounded by banks of metal-framed, fixed sash windows. Between 2011 and 2015 an addition was constructed to join the east elevation of the first addition with the west elevation of the 1965 school building. To accommodate this addition, an L-shaped building mass containing parish offices (part of the original 1965 complex) was demolished. The remaining portion of the 1965 school building is rectangular in plan with brick walls, fixed-sash-over-awning-windows and a flat roof. A taller mass at the east end of the school is of concrete construction and contains the gymnasium. 2012: In 1956, ten acres of land bounded by Hilltop Drive, Delahaut, and Libal Streets was purchased by the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay for future church use. However, it was not until September of 1963 that Bishop Stanislaus Vincent directed the establishment of Resurrection Catholic Church and School. The Green Bay firm of Berners, Schober and Kilp was commissioned to design the school and convent building. Construction of the school began in July of 1964. In the fall of 1965, Resurrection Catholic School opened for enrollment for kindergarten through eighth grade, initially staffed by nine of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis of Stevens Point, Wisconsin. In 2011, Resurrection Catholic School officially joined the GRACE school system, comprised of ten Green Bay area Catholic Schools. The school continues to operate to this day and serves students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
