Additional Information: | A 'site file' titled "Sunset Circle Residential Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2023 The Elroy and Bernice Van Oss House was constructed in 1940 . That year the house was featured in the Green Bay Press-Gazette as a “handsome Colonial Home” and the first to be constructed on Sunset Circle. It is a two-story Colonial Revival single-family dwelling with a one-story, front-facing attached garage. The exterior is entirely clad in stone veneer. The side-gabled roof has narrow eaves that are delineated by a dentil cornice and the gable ends feature eave returns. The principal elevation is symmetrical with a centered entrance accentuated by a semi-circular dentil pediment and squared pilasters. Two large, 30-lite windows are centered adjacent to the entrance and feature dentil surrounds. The windows are otherwise six-over-six and eight-over-eight hung wood sash windows and feature stone sills. Semi-circular attic windows are centered in the gable ends. Rounded bay windows extend from the west (side) and south (rear) elevations, and a one-story glazed sunroom extends from the west end of the rear elevation. The garage and house are adjoined by a small hyphen with a secondary entrance. |
