Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2012- "This 2 1/2 story Front Gabled house was constructed c.1860. It is rectangular in plan with clapboard walls and an asphaltshingled gable roof. Although vernacular in overall plan, the house displays some decorative detailing characteristic of ltalianate architecture, the majority of which were likely later additions. Pairs of decorative brackets are located along the roofline of the main building mass. The front elevation faces east and is asymmetrical in plan due to an off-center front door. A 1-story hipped roof porch spans the width of the fagade. The porch has turned wood supports with decorative "gingerbread" bargeboards below the roofline and decorative brackets at the top of each support. The decorative woodwork along the porch was most likely added around the turn of the century due to the influence of Queen Anne architecture. Inside the porch are three 6-over-6 windows and a single front door. The second story contains three 6-over-6 windows and a single-pane fixed-sash window below the gable at the attic level." -"USH 45 and CTH K: approx 1200 ft. in each direction", WisDOT #3732-00-70, Prepared by GLARC, Inc., (2012). |
