Additional Information: | This farmstead includes a two-story gable-ell house, originally built c.1860, that sits above the main road with English bond brick cladding on one wing and wood clapboard siding on the other. A partial wooden porch sits at the northeast corner with turned spindle columns and brackets, while another porch covers the main entrance on the west. Windows have been replaced in some places, though many of the original openings remain with narrow double-hung frames. The roof has two central chimneys located on the ridge and is sheathed in asphalt shingles. The house has clearly been built in stages with many additions and alterations to the original, in particular a large modern rear expansion. The building sits on a farmstead consisting of four additional outbuildings, including two large barns and a smaller concrete and stucco building. The first of the two barns, AHI# 222994, constructed c.1900, sits on the eastern edge of the property and is the smaller of the two. It has vertical lap wood siding painted red with large side barn doors and a shingled gable roof. The second, larger barn, AHI# 222995, is similar in materials, age, and orientation to the first only larger with sliding barn doors on the north facade. The property is currently the site of Silver Creek Pottery and Forge. |
