Additional Information: | 2011- "Topped with a side-gabled roof, this one-and-one-half-story house has walls covered with fieldstone. The gables are sheathed with wide board siding and a fieldstone chimney rises from the roofs peak. Fenestration generally consists of large casement windows. The rear (east) facade features an exposed basement which creates a modern balcony deck. This home was constructed in in 1955 by Charles M. Ihrig. Ihrig had returned to the area after selling his original home in 1946 (W269 S3486 Merrill Hills Road). Ed Gray designed the home. The home originally was located on Ihrig’s forty-acre parcel which he gradually subdivided into residential parcels along a new road that would be named Hawthorne Hollow Drive. The plots were sold individually to people who would then design and build their own houses. Ihrig died in 1985 and the home remains in the Ihrig family." -"Waukesha Bypass: Merrill Hills Rd & STH 59 to Golf Course East Alt.", WisDOT#2788-01-00, Prepared by Heritage Research, Ltd.
