Additional Information: | This bungalow was constructed by Joseph Ashenmacher in 1911. Ashenmacher was a local carpenter who had a sizeable carpentry shop and planing mill at the rear of the property (no longer extant). A 1911 newspaper article described that the “house is built with five rooms and is on a model used quite extensively in California.” The house featured no bedrooms with beds and closets scattered throughout the house concealed by wood paneling. The home was remodeled in 1930. Joseph died sometime around 1934 and his wife, Mary would remain in the house until around 1950. Aaron Sturm lived in the house in the 1950s. |
