Edward Daskam was a Civil War veteran and the grandson of a Revolutionary War soldier. "Antigo's Landmarks" reports that he came to Antigo in 1881 to invest in real estate and business. The house, which also served as Daskam's office, was built for $5,000. After Daskam and his family returned to Michigan in 1911 the house was converted into a hospital by Dr. E. J. Donahue. He operated the hospital along with his brother, also a physician, and two sisters. The hospital here closed in 1933 with the establishment of the Langlade Memorial Hospital. The building was converted to apartments in 1935. See also the Antigo Hospital established by Dr. I. D. Steffen (AHI #22026).
