Additional Information: | First floor covered with clapboard, upper half-story sheathed with wooden shingles. Porch constructed of brick. A "matching" garage is also located on the property. This house was built circa 1928 by local farmer Henry W. Kiehnau and his wife Anna. Carl Leudtke, a carpenter, who resided in the home to the north (8734), sold the land in 1925 to Kiehnau and it’s possible that Leudtke was responsible for the home’s construction. As of 1930, the census enumerates Henry residing in the house with his unmarried daughter Meta. The home is, thereafter, understood to have been owned by Henry’s son, George Kiehnau, who worked at the greenhouses of Holton & Hunkel in Brown Deer. More recently, the property was owned by the Hickey family, who sold it in 2000 to CLL Properties of Mequon. The house currently functions as a two-family home. |
