NOTES
Additional Information:The Spiegelberg House is significant under Criterion C as a good example of Queen Anne style architecture in Merrill. In 1877 the Lincoln County Flouring Mill (not extant), owned by Rusch and Spiegelberg, began operation at the south end of the dam. By 1886 the Spiegelberg brothers, William and Herman, were each building houses designed by Thomas De Vall, near their flour mill. In 1893 William F. and Herman H. Spiegelberg operated the Lincoln County Flouring Mill (not extant), advertising four, feed, grain, salt, hay, and related items, on Spiegelberg Avenue (now named Riverside Avenue). iN 1896 C.F. Spiegelberg owned the mill and employed numerous family members. By 1900 the Lincoln County Rodller Mill was owned by William Wendt and C.H. and H.C. Spiegelberg. The business closed by 1911.
