Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. In 1898 Hugo Ceglske opened the Merrill Marble and Granite Works. In 1905 the Merrill Marble Works was located at 115 N. Prospect Street. By 1921 Ceaglske had sold the business to Henry J. Mitbauer and Alfred E. Anderson, both of whom had extensive previous engraving and finishing experience. In 1924 their work covered Lincoln and Langlade Counties, northern Marathon County, and southern Oneida County. In 1945 M.L.l Mitbauer and H.W. Anderson operated the business at the same location, and in 1990 Merrill Monument Company operated in the same building.
