Additional Information:TUDOR ARCHED DOOR IN STONE SURROUNDROUND WINDOW W/ DECORATIVE TRACERY IN GABLECOLORFUL SEMI-COURSED CUT STONE WALLS The Holy Cross Convent is significant (after 1997) under Criterion C as a good example of Art Deco style architecture in Merrill. The Holy Cross Convent was constructed in 1947 for the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross, who had their headquarters in the Scott Mansion, adjacent to the property. The Sisters, who came to Merrill in 1923, had started a hospital and high school for girls also on the grounds of the Convent.
