Additional Information: | The Van Hecke Law Office is significant under Criterion C as a good example of commercial vernacular architecture in Merrill. This is a contributing building in the proposed West Main Street Commercial District. This building was apparently built c. 1915 by John and Max Van Hecke, two prominent Merrill lawyers. The Van Hecke Law Firm stayed at this location as late as 1930. From 1936 to as late as 1945 the F.J. Golden Law Offices continued to use this location. Re-surveyed in 2005. No significant change observed. |
