GABLES W/ BARGEBOARDS W/ ELLIPTICAL ARCH. RECESSED STUCCOED PANELS. MOULDED CONCRETE BLOCKS FORM BELT COURSE. SIDE BAY. THE RICHARD B. RUNKE HOUSE IS SIGNIFICANT UNDER CRITERION C AS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF CROSS-GABLED VERNACULAR RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE CONSTRUCTED OF CONCRETE BLOCK IN MERRILL, AND AS A CONTRIBUTING RESORUCE IN TYHE PROPOSED EAST THIRD STREET RESIDENTIAL HISTORIC DISTRICT. APPARENTLY CONSTRUCTED SOMETIME BETWEEN 1915 AND 1921, RICHARD B. RUNKE WAS THE RESIDENT IN 1921. BY 1936, HOWEVER, THE OWNERSHIP CHANGED, AS IN THAT YEAR IT BECAME KNOWN AS THE TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME. |
