Original location was 133 N. Pelham St. 25 East Frederick Street (was 133 North Pelham Street) Luther and Marcella Brown House

This two-story, frame Colonial Revival house was built at 133 North Pelham Street circa 1915 for Luther and Marcella Brown (Oneida County deeds, 69:463; 1908 and 1920 Sanborn Map of Rhinelander). The house features twelve-over-one, double-hung sash windows; a small, front entry porch with a simple, classical entablature; returned eaves; cornice boards; and exposed rafters. It was the home of Luther E. and Marcella Brown until at least 1959 (City of Rhinelander tax rolls). Luther Brown was the son of Rhinelander founder Anderson W. Brown. Luther (1878-?) and his brother,Webster A. Brown, were partners in the Brown Land and Lumber Company (founded circa 1913), and the Brown Timber Company (established circa 1919). Both companies were still in business in 1927 (Rhinelander City Directories). Circa 1994, the house that had been built at 25 East Frederick Street circa 1894, burned down. The earlier house had been constructed for Edward Dexter Brown (1824-1898), father of Anderson and Webster Brown and then a widower. Edward Brown's unmarried daughters, May and Helen, also lived there. In 1997, the Luther and Marcella Brown House was moved onto its current lot (City of Rhinelander building permit).
